***DISCLAIMER: This is NOT compatible with the original Whitelighter mod! This mod replaces it and contains nearly everything the Whitelighter mod had, which is why it has been removed. Keeping the original mod in your game WILL cause issues like missing text and dysfunctional gameplay.*

*03/21/2026

  • Adjusted the way the “Contemplate Beliefs” interaction works, to prevent excessive spawning of objects and speed up the process a bit.
  • Added an interaction to the Ritual Circle from the Fairies vs. Witches mod. Now, witches can summon infernals if they have six infernal iron placed on the ritual circle. (Make sure FvW is updated, otherwise the interaction won’t show up!)

  • Added a couple new attack animation variants for battles – one for sims with the Energy Throwing power and one for the Fire Throwing power.
  • Added a few new interactions to Astral Bodies. Infernals can now use “Devilish Whispers” on the planets celestials create to corrupt them and turn the population toward evil, and now when a planet experiences a natural disaster, the creator of the astral body can influence how the population reacts to it, pushing them toward good or evil. More interactions like these are coming in future updates!
  • Added a cheat to reset the Ambrosia/Athame object payout for the “Contemplate Beliefs” interaction on altars.

  • Adjusted the outcome weights for battles and athame attacks so they will hopefully be successful more often.
  • Fixed prayer fulfillment for NPCs. (I apologize if it’s occasionally buggy. The prayer system mostly relies on buffs and during development, I discovered that the game doesn’t actually instantiate buffs on sims that aren’t spawned in the neighborhood. I’m continuing to work on it.)
  • Infernals with at least Modest influence and level 3 Cosmos Magic skill can now influence sims to attack other sims if they have an athame in their inventory. If successful, sim A will target sim B and attack as soon as the two are in range of each other.

Hello!

It’s finally here! One of the most expansive and complex mods I’ve ever made is ready for early release. I started working on this over a year ago, building upon my existing Whitelighter mod to turn it into something with a much broader scope. This mod has a ton of content to go over, so let’s get into it~

The Basics

This mod introduces two new occults that are based on angels and demons of mythology, religion, and pop culture. I’ve chosen to name them “Celestials” and “Infernals“, inspired by DnD, to keep them more on the mystical and mythological side than based on any particular religion.

These occults, like the others in the game, have their own powers and abilities, motives, mechanics, and progression. Aside from their individual abilities, as the mod’s name suggests, they can amass a following of sims who will empower them and help them ascend to godhood!

Celestials

Celestials are the benevolent guardians that help or guide sims. They are the “angel” equivalent that are connected to the heavenly planes and they tend to be on the good side of alignment. Celestials have abilities ranging from a healing touch, to guardianship, to crafting self-contained planets called “Astral Bodies” that they can watch over. They have Divine Energy, which they draw from the heavens and use to fuel their powers. They can replenish this energy by Communing with the Heavens or by absorbing a substance called Celestial Ether, a resource that naturally comes from using divine powers.

Infernals

Infernals are the malicious, mischievous trouble-makers of the underworld that seek to corrupt sims and turn them toward evil. They are naturally malevolent and possess powers that are used to harm sims, spread evil, or manipulate other creatures. They have Malevolent Power, which they get from the hells to empower their abilities, and they can Commune with the Hells to replenish it, or absorb Infernal Iron, a metal that is found in the underworld or occasionally produced when they use their fiendish powers.

Becoming a Celestial/Infernal

There are a few ways to become a Celestial/Infernal through gameplay, but the most readily available way from the start is by purchasing an altar from Build/Buy (do a text search for “altar”) and choose the “Contemplate Beliefs” interaction. Depending on whether or not your sim is considered “good” or “evil”, based on a calculated score, they will either get a Demonic Athame or a serving of Ambrosia after doing this a few times. From there, eating the Ambrosia or using the Demonic Athame to do a ritual at the altar will turn your sim into a celestial or infernal.

Otherwise, here are some other ways to do it:

  • Eating any two servings of ambrosia in a row, regardless of where they came from.
  • Being pierced by an athame that is infused with infernal plasma and contracting a demonic infection.
  • Being struck by an athame that has the “Infernal Conversion” empowerment.
  • Using the cheats that are attached to the altars when “testingcheats” is enabled.

Powers

Each occult has their own unique set of available powers to choose from, and they are earned in a similar way to the other occults I’ve worked on, with power points that are gained throughout gameplay, by building your Divinity or Cosmos Magic skills, Communing with the Heavens or Hells, consuming Celestial Ether or Infernal Iron, and engaging in battles with other divine beings. Each celestial/infernal can earn a maximum of 6 powers, but they can also develop other powers by committing to specific Domains.

** The “Creationist” power relies on an object called the “Cradle of Creation”, which can be found in build/buy. Once your sim has the ability, you can click on the object and select “Craft Astral Body” to create a new planet.

Domains

As your Celestial/Infernal gains more experience, they will be able to choose Domains, which are the areas of life that they embody. There are 15 different Domains and each sim can choose a maximum of 3. My goal with this was to allow you to create unique god-like sims, or recreate existing characters with different combinations. For example:

  • Gale Dekarios (BG3) : Ambition, Wisdom, Magic
  • Athena (Mythology) : War, Wisdom, Creativity
  • God of Fertility : Life, Love, Prosperity
  • Eris (Mythology) : Chaos, Misery, War

There’s a good mix of benevolent, neutral, and malevolent Domains to choose from, totaling 455 possible combinations! These Domains will give your sim unique powers and interactions beyond their basic power selection. Sims who follow a deity with specific Domains will have special benefits, such as increased Gardening skill gains with a Nature deity, improved sleep with a Dream deity, or more successful spells with a deity of the Magic domain.

Creating a Following

Not only will you be able to play as a Celestial or Infernal, but you’ll also be able to form followings of sims who look at these occults like gods and pray to them for guidance, gifts, or divine intervention. Want to create the entire Greek pantheon? Go for it! Want to make a man with a beard and call him Jesus? Have at it! Want to make a redhead with microbangs and post-hangover makeup named Gladys? You’re a freak and I love that for you.

Any Celestial or Infernal can be dedicated to an Altar, a special object in BB mode that is used for prayer, offerings, and Divine Requests. If you’d like to use Mother Nature or Grim Reaper as deities, for example, you can enable testingcheats and turn them into one of the occults by shift+clicking an altar and selecting them from a list. After that, you just dedicate the altar to them and they’re ready to be worshipped!

As your sim gains a following, they’ll become more powerful. Each follower will have a “Faith” relationship with the deity sim, which increases or decreases based on certain choices you can make throughout playing, and will impact things like how receptive a follower is to influence or how willing a deity is to help the follower.

By committing to a deity at their altar, your sim can unlock special benefits and responsibilities from their Faith.

Sims can have as many followers as you’d like, and your sim can also worship any number of deities. Each deity is able to have one or more dedicated altars, where you can pray, give offerings, and view information about them.

Divine Requests

Divine Requests are the best way to build Faith between a follower and a deity. These are special tasks that relate to the deity’s alignment, occult type, or Domain, as well as the follower’s occult, career, skills, etc.

By default, followers of NPC deities will get random calls to action, asking them to complete one of these tasks in exchange for rewards. You don’t have to accept, but this will cause your Faith to decrease. You can also directly volunteer to do these tasks by praying at an altar!

Prayer

On the flip side, sims can ask for favors of their deities in the form of prayers. These include praying for good health, prosperity, promotions, the death of your enemies, and more! You don’t have to be a dedicated follower to submit a prayer, but it definitely helps! There are three different outcomes for each prayer, and having Faith with the deity helps sway the result to be more positive, while non-followers will be more likely to join a deity’s following when their prayer is fulfilled.

After performing Divine Requests and praying to your deity for a while, your sim will eventually earn Divine Gifts, which are like perks that the deity will fulfill (if your Faith is high enough)!

Athames

Athames are special daggers that can be used to either perform sacrifices or to vanquish infernals. Wielding an athame and taking on other sims is a difficult task and relies on having higher Fitness skill, especially when going up against an occult like a vampire or an infernal. However, certain athames are more effective. For instance, wooden stakes are a type of athame and are the only ones that can kill a vampire, while wielding a silver or iron dagger will be more effective against werewolves or fairies, respectively.

Empowerments are another way to increase the effectiveness of an athame. These can be imbued on an athame by selecting the “Athame Empowerment” divine gift, if your sim has one available. These range from removing occult powers, to turning sims into infernals, to trapping a sim’s essence inside the blade. There are 3 categories of empowerments that can be mixed and matched!

Other Stuff

And as always, there are additional things included in this mod, like special objects and CAS items, including an archway that uses various parallax shaders and can be customized with VFX, several horns and halos available in the Hat category of CAS, a few clothing items for both celestials and infernals, and a functional Harp instrument with its own skill (which is unfortunately not 100% finished, but I’ll explain that below).

Compatibility

This mod is Base Game Compatible, so no packs are required to use it. However, there are multiple cross-pack interactions that are included if you do have certain packs.

This mod overrides the 0x0000000000018ED0 “loot_Ambrosia” resource and will conflict with any mod that alters the same file. This isn’t a major conflict, but may just prevent ambrosia from turning sims into celestials.

Future Plans

There is SO. MUCH. MORE. I want to do with this mod and a LOT that I have planned.

Unfortunately, there are several things that aren’t as fleshed out or polished as I was hoping for the initial release, but these will be improved and added onto over the next several weeks. These improvements include:

  • More abilities related to Domains, specifically active abilities with unique effects. Some domains are currently lacking with the amount of gameplay they bring, which I definitely want to fix.
  • The Harp object is currently missing its sound effects for the “practice” interaction and is using a generic song as a placeholder. However, there are three songs that can be performed as your sim gains the Harp skill, which were converted from BG3, like several other assets in this mod.
  • The planet management system for the “Creationist” power needs more work, like additional actions and effects, but it’s currently functional and has a lot to build onto.
  • More of EVERYTHING. I’d like to add more prayer options, Divine Requests, powers, athame empowerments, etc. and believe me, I have a TON of ideas. However, if I kept up the additions without releasing the mod, it wouldn’t come out for another year. 😅

And that’s pretty much everything! I would love to hear any feedback about what you like, or what needs work, and what I can do to improve the mod. It’s probably the mod with the most potential for growth of any I’ve made so far, so there will definitely be plenty of updates in the future.
