Preschool
You read that right! I wanted to give toddlers a little home away from home and created FOUR different preschools for them to choose. All the preschools in SimNation agreed that they should be opened M-F from 7:30 AM to 4 PM. Each school teaches all of the toddler skills but each one has a different specialty! Want to focus more on your toddler’s creativity? Enchanted Stars is their home! What about their communication? The Will Wright Academy is at your service. The cost to attend is 150 btw! Toddlers will be gone for 4-5 hours. Oh and did I forget to mention that your toddlers will come home with a special behavior report!
To send your little ones to school, have a young adult (or older) sim use their phone and click on the Growing Pains App Icon!
9/23: Added a “Go To Preschool” option for Toddlers in V1.13
Special Notes: If your sims leave the lot and your toddler is the only one left on the lot, they will go to the game’s Daycare center. That’s not a me thing that’s just the games’ design!
Afterschool Program:
Kids sometimes need somewhere to go afterschool or on the weekends when the day is pretty busy! That’s where the Pleasant Afternoon Youth Center comes in! Unlike the SimNation preschool system, the PAYC is a little more flexible in their hours. They’re closed only on Sundays! There are a variety of different things your kids can do! Take an Art Class? Playing Videogames with friends? Ooo maybe you want the kiddos to sharpen up their Equestrian skills? Don’t worry its free for Kids and they’ll only be gone 1- 4 hours tops. (They can even bring some friends)
Depending on the activity, kids will get a buff from it! (Let me know if you get the second buff that comes in two of the activities!)
College Material:
Getting ready for College can be stressful but also memorable time for anyone and sims should be no different! I made a custom Holiday Tradition where your sims will need to either Apply or Enroll to University and spend time with their families i.e. chat or take selfies with them, in order to complete this tradition

There’s even a special holiday buff!
Speaking of College, sims can now ask their teens what their college plans will be! And you can pick for your sims and get a cute buff to go with your decision!

I’ve got a PromPosal for you!
I’ve created a Prom Rabbit Hole for your teens! They’ll first need to purchase a Prom Ticket (via computer) which comes out to 150 a piece! Prom is only Thursday through Saturday from 6PM to 11PM. The tickets themselves are good for 3 days before they expire or else you’ll need to buy a new ticket.
Your Teens will have a few Buffs that show while they’re away/when they return. After Prom, your teens will need a break before being able to go again so there is a cooldown from when they can purchase tickets again.

Sims can go back to school shopping! But only during the summer! Both Kids/Teens and their caregivers will get special buffs depending on how the shopping went!
Family Values:
This is a concept I had for a mini mod but realized this would be a better fit for Growing Pains. The Initial Idea was to be a mashup of Character Values from Parenthood and Family Dynamics from Growing Together! Family Values are reward traits for your sims who want their families to have what they consider to be important as a family! While any age can unlock these traits in the reward store, only Young Adult Sims and Up can actually gain a Family Value.
For this initial release, I’ve created 3 different Family Values (more added in a future update):
1) Creativity
2) Wellness
3) Education
Each reward trait will have sims more drawn to do things autonomously and have faster skill gain for their respective traits. For example, sims with the Education Family Value gain skills like Logic or Rocket Science faster.
As with the rest of Growing Pains, this part of the mod will be expanded in future updates! I plan on adding things such as new interactions, custom wants, custom buffs, harder/stronger relationship gains with sims who share similar interests (ex: Wellness sims being able to build friendships quicker with sims who have the fitness trait).
If you ever want to know what the other Family Value your sims have just use the “Talk About Family Values” interaction!
It’s GAME TIME!
A cute idea that popped up when talking to friends was a game show rabbit hole! Sims can invite their family members (no more than 8 please!) to go on the Familial Dispute Show! Your sims might’ve missed it once or twice but its okay! Your sims’ family has the potential to get anywhere from 10K to 50K if they win!
BUT there’s always a chance they could lose! For now, each member of the family that tags along has the potential to win BIG money! There is a cooldown so sims can only go on the Familial Dispute once a week!
This interaction can be found in the Quality Times Activities Section…Speaking of!
Quality Time is the Best Time
Located on your sims’ phones, your sims can spend quality time with family members! There are different locations they can go to and a few special buffs along the way! Maybe they’ll want to go Berry Picking? (Hint: They’ll bring back berries) Or maybe Winterfest Caroling is more your sims speed? Just be sure to do that one during Winter. For some reason, Sims get a little testy if you show up on their door singing winterfest tunes in the middle of summer…idk man!
More Activities will be added over time in other updates!
Planning for a Baby
Remember my Pregnancy Reactions Mod? Welp, I really wanted to bring back the Baby Fever/ Anti-Baby Fever Buffs! So I made an interaction for sims who are starting to think of having a baby!
Sims must have a romance score of at least 60 in order for this interaction to pop up!
Sims will get one of two buffs: Baby Fever or Not Part of the Plan
Depending on your sims traits they may only get one or the other (ex: Family Oriented Sims will never get the Anti Baby Fever Buff)
For added storytelling, you can have your sims discuss their fear of having kids which will get rid of the anti baby fever buff and add a new one!
It’s Tradition!
While giving teens a special holiday tradition for preparing for college, I came up with TWO new holiday traditions! School Picture Day and Anniversaries. Depending on your sims traits they may ignore or love the holidays so keep an eye out!
School Picture Day
For this tradition just have your teens and children sims plan their outfits and take pictures to remember this day!
Anniversaries
A special holiday tradition for sims to celebrate their own relationships no matter how long they’ve been in them! (I see you one day relationship simmers) I’ve even created a special buff (Golden Anniversary) for my Elder sims! Go on dates, Perform Romantic Interactions, Renew your vows or WooHoo to complete this!
Lot Traits:
I’ve been experimenting with lot traits and I’ve created the “Grandparents House” Lot Trait! With this trait enabled, friendship levels should increase, the Charisma, Knitting and Cooking Skills should increase and they’re more likely to do these activities. Also Sims are more likely to be Happy and less likely to be Sad or Angry! I’m new to this so let me know what you think!
Interacting Seems like Work
I’ve created a good amount of interactions between family members (this might extend to friends outside of the family) While I can’t go through ALL of them, there are a few that I thought were cute additions! (Note: Some interactions will add buffs/chance cards and some are just for storytelling!)

Just the Memories
Not sure about any of you all but when I look through the family photo album, I’m just in awe of the rollercoaster of emotions seeing all of my family’s moments captured on camera good bad or indifferent. I wanted sims to have the same feeling which is why I’ve asked a very talented creator and friend to help make this vision come true!
Shoutout to the amazing SixamCC for crafting this beautiful Family Photo Album! It comes in two versions! One is decor and the other is for your sims to place their own photos! (this one requires Growing Together)
If your sim views the Decor Version, there are three possible buffs! (Special Note: You do need to have the Growing Pains Mod installed for the buffs to appear!)
And that about covers the first release of Growing Pains Version 1! I really do appreciate you guys so much for being patient with me! These last few months have been a lot of work but I think we’re getting the hang of this! Hope you all enjoy and I can’t wait to see what comes in V2!!! (I left a little Easter Egg for what’s next to come! Hint: It’s a computer interaction)
