Regency Romance
Updated 2/15/26 for compatibility with the Royalty + Legacy patch. Note: all the career ids have been changed, so your sims in regency careers may need to re-join them. (Also fixes a bug where Sims in finishing school would cause issues with the throne interactions!)
*** NOTE: This mod requires the XML Injector. If you do not already have a copy in your game, you can get it here. ***
Regency Romance is a mod that simulates Regency-era social dynamics and introduces new historical gameplay options. Inspired by the popular Bridgerton Netflix series, your Sims can learn the new etiquette skill, host balls, purchase or inherit grand estates, endure or evade scandals, and even find themselves in Lady Whistledown’s gossip papers.

First, I would like to thank you all for your unending patience with me. This update has been a criminally long time in the making, and I can’t tell you how much I appreciate you sticking with me through this absolute rollercoaster/trainwreck of a year. <3
he core new content of this update is a 5-level Social Dancing Skill, which unlocks several new group dances for your sims to enjoy.
Sims can dance in groups of up to 16 sims at a time, in various formations. Find and place the Regency Dance Floor object in Buy Mode to unlock group dancing. When you click on a dance, it will tell you what groups work best.
Unfortunately, this does require Get Together in order to function properly — but the pre-existing dances from before this update are still Base-Game Compatible and you can safely remove this module if you do not want it in your game. As another note – I’ve done as much as possible to limit autonomy for sims who are dancing — but like the in game group dances, it’s possible for sims to get pulled away to other activities, and this feature works best with autonomy off.

There is also a new Play Social Dance Music interaction available on the piano, and a Social Dancing station on the radio. (The music is not timed with the dances themselves because I expected players may have multiple dances happening at once, and there would be absolute cacophony.)
I’ve also added some new quality of life features in this update. First, the save data folder has now been moved to your EA saves folder, so you no longer need to transfer that (or your config file – that has moved too!) with every update!
On the mailbox, there is a menu called Regency Romance Settings under the Regency Pie menu. There, you can now choose which scandals you want to enable, enable or disable features such as Legitimacy and Social Class Dynamics, add as many sims to the ton as you want from a simpicker.

OR, under autonomy, you can also choose to auto-add all wealthy sims to the ton, and any young adults not in your active household who are children of members of society will auto join society as well. These are disabled by default because I know this is a change to how the systems worked in the past!
With that in mind, I have significantly lowered the default thresholds for social classes (middle class is above 45,000 simoleons on hand, and upper class is 70,000 simoleons on hand) to match the sims in the game. You can edit these in the config file, which now goes into your saves/Regency Romance folder.

For bugfixes, I’ve done an exhaustive overhaul looking at the estate inheritance system and last exceptions relating to Lady Whistledown, and those features should be much more stable now. The governess should also come every day after being hired sometime in the morning, leaving around 6pm. The gold level of the Coming Out Ball is now achievable (and balls have been updated to account for the new social dancing feature). Lots of small other things, I’ve lost track! But if you notice anything weird post-update, please ping me on discord and I’ll look into it ASAP.
Finally, just to reiterate: Your savedata and config file have now moved to your saves folder, in a subfolder called Regency Romance. This folder and the config file within will be auto-generated by the game; you do not need to manually create them, and it is still safe to edit the config file manually if you prefer. If you have multiple households with estates, for this update, make sure you play with them all once to make sure your inheritance savedata is current.

CORE FEATURES:
Two New Aspirations
- The “Truly Accomplished” aspiration takes inspiration from Darcy and Bingley’s conversation about what makes a person “truly accomplished”.
- The “Reformed Rake” aspiration is inspired by the character arcs of the male leads in the first two seasons of Bridgerton, and asks that a Sim explore romantically until finally finding their soulmate.
Three New Careers
- Sims may now join the Military as an Enlistee, Army Officer, or Naval Officer. Unlock the Officer Tracks by purchasing an Officer’s Commission on the mailbox! Sims will be referred to by their titles in Lady Whistledown.
- Sims may also become paid Servants to the upper class – start as a scullery worker, then work your way up to Housekeeper! New animations including mending clothes and polishing silverware.
- Finally, Sims of the Aristocracy may join the House of Lords career. There are new interactions on the Parchment Paper object just for this purpose.
New Rake Trait
- Rakes are lovable scoundrels and often feel flirty remembering their past exploits. They can also perform a “Rakish Introduction”, which will start new acquaintances off on a steamy footing.
New Etiquette Skill
- The new etiquette skill allows you to send letters, practice your curtsy or bow, and unlock new social interactions. (Tip: This skill also helps your chances at the audience with the Queen!)
- NEW: There is a paper fan which also unlocks this skill. Choose your preferred color by purchasing one from Buy Mode.
Estates
- An estate is an object that can be purchased from the mailbox. It will give your Sim the Landed Gentry trait and will offer a daily income based on the lands leased. Purchase improvements and maintain your estate to increase your earnings! You can also choose an heir.
Social Classes
- Part of this mod is an attempt to simulate Regency Era social dynamics. Social class of this era was determined by wealth, land ownership, and parentage.
- Sims will automatically be assigned a Wealth Trait (wealthy, middle class, or poor) which will determine whether or not they can be presented to the Queen.
- On purchasing an estate, Sims will be given the Landed Gentry trait. Once that estate reaches a Dignified level, Sims will join the ranks of the Aristocracy.
- Learn more about social classes in the mod guide.
Ball Event
- A ball operates just like any other social event, with associated goals and achievements. Sims will autonomously ask one another to dance.
Presentation to Society and Scandal
- Teens and young adults who are wealthy can make their entrance to society by being presented to the Queen. Some lucky Sims might be named the Incomparable of the Season!
- Once out in society, Sims will be subject to scandal. Certain interactions, such as getting caught kissing or woohooing, will result in a scandal which may be mentioned in Lady Whistledown.
- If only one Sim witnesses a scandal, you can ask for them to keep your secret. The outcome will depend on the relationship with that Sim, so tread carefully!
- Sims can also Duel or Duel to the Death for another Sim’s honor.
Lady Whistledown’s Gossip Papers
- Lady Whistledown delivers juicy gossip papers three times weekly, commenting on the happenings of your Sims.
- You can also read the most current Lady Whistledown at any time by purchasing a copy from the bookshelf.
- Turn Lady Whistledown on or off in the config file, choose the days the paper will arrive, and choose whether or not Lady Whistledown can leak scandals that haven’t been discovered yet!
Widows and Spinsters
- Sims will now get a “Widow” trait if they have a deceased spouse. During the initial mourning period of 7 days, they will get buffs from interacting with other Sims remembering their spouse or having difficulty in romance. After the mourning period, the buffs may still occur, with less frequency.
- Unmarried female Sims aged Adult or Elder will get an automatic “Spinster” trait. This makes attempting romance more difficult, and Spinsters can “Bemoan Spinsterhood” or “Give Spinsterly Advice”.
